HP StorageWorks SSL1016 Tape Autoloader nosed out two other HP products--HP StorageWorks MSL6030 tape libraries and HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series 712e and 630e enterprise tape libraries--to win the Best Enterprise Backup/Recovery Hardware award. The SSL1016 combines tape-library features and capacity in the compact form and lower price of a tape autoloader. The product's Web-based management features let you centrally support multiple sites. With a native capacity of as much as 3.2TB, the SSL1016 can replace a small tape library for many applications, and at 2U (3.5") in height, doesn't consume a large amount of rack space. The SSL1016 ships rack-ready but includes a tabletop installation kit for organizations that choose not to rack the autoloader. The unit features a user-enabled, dedicated import and export slot and a barcode reader that facilitates overall media management. Modular in construction, the SSL1016 has easily replaceable components, minimizing the time and cost to repair the unit.
