On October 1, 2008, Microsoft released the new standalone Hyper-V Server 2008 product. Hyper-V Server 2008 is free download and it is intended to provide high performance hypervisor-based virtualization for businesses that haven’t moved to Windows Server 2008 yet. Hyper-V Server 2008 does not require Windows Server 2008 and it will support all of guest OSes as the version Hyper-V that’s included in Windows Server 2008.

You can download Hyper-V Server 2008 from:
 http://www.microsoft.com/servers/hyper-v-server/how-to-get.mspx

I’ll share my experiences running Hyper-V Server 2008 in upcoming blog entries over the next couple of weeks.
