I just moved a Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a (SP6a) system, running Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, to a new physical location. How can I move the system from its original resource domain to the new location's resource domain?

If the machine is a member server rather than a domain controller (DC), the job is a simple matter of joining the server to the new domain--no special tricks necessary. If the system is a DC, a reinstallation is typically necessary. However, Algin Technology's UPromote, which you can use to promote member servers to DCs and vice versa, lets you circumvent this requirement. If your SQL Server system is a DC, you can use the tool to demote the system to a member server, then join the server to the new resource domain.
