While the debate over the value of IT certifications still rages--some IT pros think they're essential, while others think that hands-on experience is a more relevant indicator of an individual's IT skills--Microsoft has come down emphatically on the side of certifications being a good thing.

Microsoft has announced that it is allowing IT professionals to retake some of their IT certification exams a second time for free. (We know that all Windows IT Pro readers pass their certification exams on the first try, but feel free to pass this news along to someone who may need the help.) Dubbed the Microsoft Learning Second Shot, this promotion applies to any Microsoft IT developer, professional, or Dynamics certification exam and will run until June 30, 2009.
